ALERT LEVEL 1

General

Now that we’re at  Alert Level 1, what hygiene etiquette do we all have to follow? Going to Level 1 is awesome news, however, it doesn’t mean we give up our responsibility for personal hygiene. We need to continue to wash/sanitise our hands, cover coughs and sneezes with an elbow and bring your own sweat towel and use it. Stay home if you are unwell. Our staff will also continue sanitising their hands between X-Force Workouts.

Will you be contact tracing? Yes. Upon entry to the gym, all members are to use their membership key tag to swipe in every time or by using the Stocard app on your smartphone. By swiping in every single time, the Ministry of Health will be able to trace you should it be required.

I’ve had Covid-19 but now fully recovered – can I come back to the gym? If you’ve been off sick we will require medical clearance for you. You can then return to the gym as long as you follow all COVID-19 processes and protocols including personal hygiene expectations.

Do I still need to bring a workout sweat towel? Yes, always for your sweat and for the respect of fellow members.

Are there bath towels for use? No. We no longer hire out towels for showers. Should you choose to shower at the gym-please bring your own bath towel.

Will we be able to use the water fountains during level 1? Yes, they will be turned back on, however, feel free to bring a full drink bottle anyway.

What are the cleaning protocols now in Level 1? There will remain the hospital-grade cleaning spray bottles around the gym and black towels for you to wipe down the equipment after use. We will continue to clean as we have done prior to Covid-19.

Will there still be hand sanitisers available? Absolutely, these will be found throughout the gym area an reception. The Ministry of Health also recommends you wash your hands with soap and water often (for at least 20 seconds).

What about physical distancing? Although there are no physical distancing limits at Alert Level 1, let’s give each other some personal space and not crowd fellow members and staff.

What about gathering limits? There are no gathering limits at Alert Level 1.

Coming back to the gym

Even at Alert Level 1, do I need to do anything before I first come back to the club? Yes. Before you come back to the gym you need to read these new Conditions of Entry and four COVID-19 Health Questions below. After that, by accessing the club each time you will be accepting the Conditions of Entry.

Will you be providing swiss balls, stretching mats, TheraBand’s and rollers?  Yes, they will be available- please clean prior to use and after use to keep everyone safe.

Pool, steam, sauna and spa pool

Are the steam, sauna and spa pool open for use? Yes, the steam and sauna are now available for use. The spa pool is not open yet as we are working on getting the chemicals and temperature back up for use. We are aiming to have it open by Wednesday.

Is there a number limit on the use of the swimming pool? There is no formal limit. Please ensure to share the lanes based on your experience and speed of swimming.

Small Group Classes

Are there still class limits? No there are no class number limits at Alert Level 1.

Do I need to bring a sweat towel every time? Yes, you are to bring your own sweat towel to each class and workout in the gym.

Do I need to bring my own yoga mat and props to class? Yes,  we strongly recommend you to bring your own mat, towel and props.  However, we do have a limited number of mats and props available if needed.

When will the full class timetable resume as prior to Covid-19?  Prior to lockdown, we were reviewing our class schedule as we had many classes which were not well attended. We will be monitoring our class attendance on a weekly basis and will add classes as is needed.

Can I waitlist for a class? Yes, we recommend you do as members frequently change their minds and cancel, which frees up a slot for members on the waitlist.

13th of May 2020

Following the PM’s announcement on Monday that the country will be moving to Alert Level 2, we’re very happy to let you know that we’ll be open for business from this Friday 15th May.

However, due to the Ministry of Health guidelines, it won’t quite be business as usual. Here’s what you need to know:

Restarting your membership dues.

With the gym reopening this Friday, all membership dues will restart from 23rd May on your normal billing date.  If you have any queries, please contact accounts@bodytech.co.nz

Opening hours:

  • Monday to Friday (normal hours) 5:30am to 9:00pm
  • Saturday (normal hours) 7:00am – 7:00pm
  • Sunday (shorter hours) 9:00am – 4:00pm

Locker rooms and showers:

In order to comply with physical distancing rules, only half the showers and a limited number of lockers will be made available, and this will be closely monitored initially to ensure it’s a workable solution.

Because of this, we ask that if you’re able to shower at home, please do so. This will help those that absolutely require showering before leaving for work.

X-Force™, Level 2’s safest (and hardest) workout in the world.

X-Force™ at BodyTech ticks all the boxes for keeping you safe during your Alert Level 2 workouts while getting all the benefits of negative training – more strength, more muscle and less fat. Here’s why:

  • X-Force personal trainers control the flow of members entering their routines, so they can ensure 2 metres physical distancing between them is maintained
  • each and every machine is sanitised before you engage with it
  • every machine is set up for you by a skilled trainer who’ll personally supervise your entire full body routine, from start to finish.

No other gym in the world can match the safety and effectiveness of X-Force™ negative training at BodyTech.

Guaranteed One-on-One X-Forceentry:

If you need a guaranteed start time, we’ll be introducing X-ForcePT - a new online way to reserve your X-Force workout with an assigned Personal Trainer. A nominal extra cost per session will apply. Please get in touch with sales or reception to find out more.

Classes:

We will be recommencing Pilates and Yoga classes on Friday 15th May and all other classes will resume from Monday 18th May (excluding Supervised Strike).

Classes will be on a reduced schedule with limited spaces during level 2.

Cardio Equipment:

Due to the requirement of physical distancing, we have reduced the number of available cardio machines by half.

Free Weights and the Supplementary Area:

Majority of the equipment will be available. There will be an expected requirement of all members, guests and staff to abide by the COVID-19 rules in regard to hand sanitisation and equipment cleaning.

We are continuing to closely follow the most recent guidelines issued by the Government and the Ministry of Health. In line with this, and effective immediately, we will be limiting numbers on our gym floor to no more than 100 (which includes Yoga and Pilates).

In the interests of social distancing and the health of our members we will also be making the following changes to our classes, effective immediately:

  • All Strike classes cancelled until further notice
  • Spin class numbers limited to a maximum of 8 people
  • Bravo classes limited to a maximum of 5 people
  • Pilates/Yoga classes limited to a maximum of 15 people.

We’ll update you shortly with exactly how we propose managing these restrictions, and any other changes to our access and procedures, so please check back here regularly.

Thanks for your patience and consideration during this extraordinary time. Stay well.

These are extraordinary times and, as a valued BodyTech member, we wanted to reassure you that we’re doing everything in our power to keep your gym visits safe. We’ve always been committed to exemplary gym hygiene but as a result of Coronavirus, we are, in consultation with clinical infectious diseases professional, taking extra measures to further increase the hygiene level of our facilities and equipment. As a result, we’ve upgraded our cleaning products to two recommended hospital-grade cleaner + sanitiser products for both facilities and exercise equipment. And as an extra precaution, we’ve also doubled the frequency of our deep cleaning schedule, especially to all grab and touch surfaces (sinks, taps, digital locks, showers, toilets, doors, hairdryers, irons and lockers and benchtops).
