Truth about supervised vs. unsupervised training

In a 2017 study*, researchers from the Universities of Potsdam (Germany), Heidelberg (Germany) and Groningen (The Netherlands) conducted a review of multiple studies to look at the difference supervised resistance training made to measures of balance and muscle strength compared to unsupervised in healthy older adults.

It should come as no surprise to you that they found that supervised resistance training was superior to unsupervised improvements in these measures. Of particular note, they found the greater the supervised intervention, the better the outcomes of measured strength and balance. In their conclusion, the researchers recommend that supervised sessions be included in at least two out of three sessions per week.

At BodyTech, we’ve understood for a long time now the important role our highly educated and certified trainers play in greatly improving our members’ strength and balance outcomes. And we also understand that cost is the most likely reason to deter someone from committing to a supervised strength training programme.

That’s why we’re more committed than ever to offering high intensity strength training that’s fully supervised by qualified trainers at no extra cost to our members. We know that supervision always leads to higher training efforts, providing better results compared to the inferior (unsupervised) strength training alternatives offered by competitors. The truth is, BodyTech members get more bang for their buck!
